Everything Sean Payton said about coronavirus, Brees, Brady

Earlier this month, New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton became the NFL’s face of the COVID-19 pandemic after testing positive for the coronavirus. He remains the only player or coach from the league to reveal a positive test.

Payton, 56, was one of the 160,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the U.S. The crisis has put a stop to most recreational activities in the nation as leaders have called for widespread social distancing among its citizens.

“When you’re basically at home with the symptoms that I had, 85 to 90 percent of people will have mild symptoms and recover fully," Payton told "Sports Talk" on WWL last week after being cleared from the coronavirus. "The CDC basically puts out, prior to getting cleared, you have to be three days fever-free … Then also, a week from when you first felt symptoms. I’m closer to 10 days now. I’ve been fortunate … I’m feeling a lot better.”

The changes interim head coach Darren Rizzi made to the New Orleans Saints practice routine are working. Just six players were listed on the initial Week 13 injury report ahead of their upcoming game with the Los Angeles Rams, making it one of the shortest injury reports (if not the shortest) we’ve seen in years.

The New Orleans Saints have voted for their 2024 Ed Block Courage Award winner, and this year the recipient will be third-year linebacker Nephi Sewell. Sewell has been on the long road to recovery from an ACL injury back in Week 17 of the 2023 season, and was able to suit up for his first game of the 2024 season in Week 11 against the Cleveland Browns. His recovery, work ethic, and perseverance are listed as the reasons for why he was voted by his teammates, and he is absolutely deserving of this honor with how difficult the recovery from ACL injuries are.
