Two former New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator candidates have already been fired by the teams that hired them this offseason, with the Chicago Bears jettisoning Shane Waldron not long after the Las Vegas Raiders moved on from Luke Getsy.

Klint Kubiak, who the Saints ultimately went with, must prove he shouldn’t join them. Getsy interviewed with New Orleans twice before accepting the Raiders job. Kubiak may have been hired by Dennis Allen but that doesn’t mean Darren Rizzi won’t let him go if the team doesn’t get results. Fortunately, that feels unlikely after the team revived itself...

On Sunday, we saw the New Orleans Saints get “Rizzed Up” to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in the Caesars Superdome. This was their first win since Week 2 and their first under interim head coach Darren Rizzi. It’s always great to defeat the Falcons but this game was one that got both the players and fans fired up, something we had not seen in New Orleans for a while now. All week there had been talk of changes that Rizzi made in meetings, the locker room and practice. Whatever took place, it definitely worked because the team had reignited a missing spark.

Let’s hope they can keep that fire...

Monday night means Monday Night Football, and tonight’s matchup shows off the Los Angeles Rams vs the Miami Dolphins. Trevor Penning just might make it. The New Orleans Saints right tackle was recognized as the highest-rated blocker of Week 10 at Pro Football Focus, with a 92.8 PFF player grade.

That’s impressive even with the subjective cautions that come with PFF grades. Penning had the league’s highest grade as a run blocker (4.7) and he was charged with allowing just one pressure on 27 snaps in pass protection. He’s really coming into his own after moving to the right side, even if he isn’t a finished project just yet.

When news broke last week that Alvin Kamara would be a New Orleans Saints team captain for the remainder of the season, it was easy to wonder why he wasn’t already a captain. Losing streak be gone.

It was quite the week across the NFC South with the Atlanta Falcons suffering their first divisional loss of the season in the unlikely 20-17 victory by none other than the New Orleans Saints on their home turf.
