By Bob Rose - Athlon Sports

Brandon Staley is the new defensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints. Staley hopes to revive a recently formidable defense that performed at a putrid level during the 2024-25 season.

The New Orleans Saints are releasing veteran running back Jamaal Williams, per Ari Meirov. Williams has spent two seasons in New Orleans. Williams’ release will save the Saints $1.59 million in cap space.

Williams signed a three-year $12 million contract with the Saints in March 2023. The veteran running back was never able to find his footing in New Orleans, however, running for just 470 yards and two touchdowns in his two seasons. Williams signed with the Saints after career year with the Detroit Lions, in which he ran for 1,066 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The New Orleans Saints have hired former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive backs coach Grady Brown, according to Matt Zenitz of 247sports. His title with the team is still to be determined. Brown had interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons’ vacant defensive coordinator position this offseason before they ultimately chose former New York Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich.

It became apparent that Brown would not be returning to the Steelers when they announced the hiring of Gerald Alexander as their new DB coach. During Brown’s four-year stint, Pittsburgh posted a 38-29-1 record while the...
