The easy part was the New Orleans Saints hiring Kellen Moore as their head coach. Both must work together to make the team a winner again.

Here’s a cool story. Kellen Moore coached with Chase Haslett on the Dallas Cowboys, and now they’re together again on the New Orleans Saints — the team Haslett’s father led to their first-ever playoff win. Jim Haslett’s son has gone on to put together a fine career for himself as an NFL coach, and NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports he and the Saints have reached an agreement on a deal making him their new tight ends coach.

Kellen Moore has only been on the job for a few days, but he’s already busy building his New Orleans Saints coaching staff. Moore chose to retain a respected position coach in Keith Williams, who works with the wide receivers, while also bringing back former Saints offensive line coach Brendan Nugent (who he worked with on the Los Angeles Chargers). And he’s just getting started.

We’ll keep tabs on all of the Saints coaching hires as they’re reported in the days and weeks ahead. Moore did have to get a bit of a late start on the process after guiding the Philadelphia Eagles to a blowout win in Super Bowl LIX, so it’ll be interesting to see how he chooses to fill out his staff with other options off the market. The New Orleans Saints and former LSU star RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire have agreed to terms on a one-year deal after he finished the 2024 season with the team. In two games, CEH recorded 46 yards and two first downs on 13 attempts, averaging 4.2 yards per carry.

New Orleans Saints new head coach Kellen Moore had his introductory press conference shortly after the hiring was announced, and he had his first chance to speak with the media regarding his viewpoint towards the team and development moving forward.
