Saints coaching interviews lined up.

By John Hendrix - Athlon Sports

Kellen Moore has more interviews lined up for his coaching staff.

According to Sunday reports by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and SI’s Albert Breer, the New Orleans Saints are interviewing Brandon Staley and Christian Parker for their defensive coordinator spot, and they’ll interview Doug Nussmeier this week for the offensive coordinator job. Parker and Nussmeier were with Moore in Philadelphia for their Super Bowl run.

Whoever Moore picks as his new defensive leader is a big move. The Saints have regressed a good bit on that side of the ball, which was supposed to be a big reason for them getting back into the postseason. They only had two major injuries on that side of the ball (Paulson Adebo and Marshon Lattimore), but dropped off in several categories.

New Orleans will have an almost brand new coaching staff in 2025, as many assistants have already moved on to other teams. Moore has hired two new coaches on the offensive side of the ball in Brendan Nugent and Chase Haslett, and he also kept Keith Williams on as his receivers coach. ...

Saints set to interview two new candidates for defensive coordinator

With Kellen Moore hired as head coach, the New Orleans Saints need to get their defensive coordinator correct. Moore’s focus will be mainly on the offense and play calling, so the defensive coordinator must do his job on that side of the ball. The Saints are one step closer to that decision and are set to interview for Chargers HC Brandon Staley and Eagles DB coach Christian Parker, per Albert Breer.

It makes sense that Brandon Staley is the favorite for the Saints DC job. Staley coached the Super Bowl-winning Rams defense in 2021 and was hired to become the Chargers HC in 2022, where...

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the New Orleans Saints are set to interview Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier for their open spot at offensive coordinator.

This is the second different OC candidate that the Saints have requested to interview.

This move is not surprising. Ever since his days in Dallas, Nussmeier has followed Moore around, first to L.A., then to Philly.

His coaching experience is mostly college ball, but he has been coaching in the NFL since 2020, where he was the Dallas Cowboys tight ends coach. Nussmeier is also a former Saints QB, drafted in the...

A little spark was added to the New Orleans Saints-Atlanta Falcons rivalry over the weekend, as Falcons tight ends coach Kevin Koger declined an interview request for the Saints’ vacant offensive coordinator position. NFL teams can block interviews for lateral moves, but in this case Koger turned them down rather than pursue a promotion.

Koger spent some time with new Saints head coach Kellen Moore during the 2023 season when Moore was an OC in L.A. During his three seasons in L.A. from 2021-2023, Koger led a room with guys such as Gerald Everett and Donald Parham achieve their most...

Things will be ramping up this week as the New Orleans Saints continue their search for both an offensive and defensive coordinator under first-year head coach Kellen Moore.

Two candidates that quickly came to mind that would fill these roles were Philadelphia Eagles QB coach Doug Nussmeier and former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley. After much speculation over the past couple of weeks, the two will officially be interviewing for those respective roles sometime this week, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Nussmeier, who is the father of LSU starting quarterback Garrett...

Kellen Moore and the new Orleans Saints will interview another Philadelphia Eagles coach for the defensive coordinator job: Vic Fangio’s right hand man Christian Parker. The MMQB’s Albert Breer first reported Parker would be meeting with the Saints, who also interviewed Minnesota Vikings. assistant Daronte Jones and plan to speak with former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley, too.

Parker, Philly’s defensive backs coach, has had tremendous success at a young age (he turned 33 in December) and is highly regarded as someone who connects well with his players, particularly...

Kellen Moore made sure to praise Alvin Kamara during his introductory press conference as New Orleans Saints head coach, which set the stage for the running back to remain an integral part of the offense.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay sees the value of the pairing as well. Kay laid out fantasy football winners and losers going into the 2025 season based on the coaching cycle additions and departures.

Kamara was a winner, and Saquon Barkley was a loser. That’s the impact of the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator-turned-Saints head coach.

Kay evaluates the lack of certainty at...

It’s been only a week since the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. We haven’t gotten to free agency or the 2025 NFL draft. We haven’t even made it to the combine yet. The New Orleans Saints offseason is off to a quiet start.

Certainly, it’s too early for 2025 NFL power rankings, right? Yes and no. There are still two talent acquisition stages coming over the next few months, so we don’t have the complete picture of how a team will look at the start of the season. At the same time, this football cycle never really stops.

The New Orleans Saints will be...

Trevor Penning’s New Orleans Saints teammate saw encouraging growth after moving to right tackle, but will he stay there in 2025 and beyond? That’s a question head coach Kellen Moore must answer this offseason with the potential for upgrades available in this year’s NFL draft.

But if his veteran teammates have anything to say about it, Penning has done enough to stay at his spot and continue to develop. Right guard Cesar Ruiz said his first year playing next to Penning was an eye-opening experience.

Ruiz grinned when asked about “Big Trev” by former offensive lineman and NFL analyst Ross...

At the time, Daniel was entering his third season as Drew Brees’ backup. Now, Daniel has ventured into sports media. He’s an analyst on Fox Sports’ The Facility and one half of the Scoop City podcast with Dianna Russini. It looks like Daniel is interested in a full-circle moment of his own.

After news broke earlier today that the Saints are interviewing Minnesota Vikings DB coach Daronte Jones, Moore has begun making moves for the offensive side of the ball.

Prince is a long time NFL assistant with a large resume, working for the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys, and most recently as Wide Receivers Coach for the Miami Dolphins.

His time has varied between passing game coordinator roles and wide receiver coaching roles.

Kellen Moore is working quickly to identify candidates and fill out his staff.

Earlier this week, we asked readers how they would grade the New Orleans Saints hiring of Kellen Moore? 55% of voters said that they would give them an “A” for selecting Moore has the team’s new head coach.

This is not surprising at considering how much social media has been buzzing since the news of Moore’s hiring became official and even more so after his first press conference on Thursday morning. Now that the Saints have found their new leader, next up is rounding out his staff with both offensive and defensive coordinators and some of those interviews have already started today.
