The interior of the Saints defensive line was a strength in 2018 until Sheldon Rankins was injured. Acquiring depth for the 2019 Season is an offseason priority.

One of the strengths of the resurgent New Orleans Saints defense in 2018 was in the interior of the defensive line. That was reflected in the Saints having the league’s number two run defense. Third-year man Sheldon Rankins was the heart of that unit until he went down with a torn Achilles in the NFC Playoffs Divisional Round. An offseason priority for the Saints in 2019 will be in handling some issues on the defensive interior regarding depth and a possible fill in for Rankins as he recovers.

Prior to Sheldon Rankins’ injury, he was having a career year at defensive tackle. With 40 tackles, eight sacks and a forced fumble, the former first round draft pick out of Louisville is finally starting to live up the pre-draft hype. Brought in to be a disruptive presence on the inside, Rankins took a huge leap from a slump-like 2017. That is until he was lost in the first quarter of that first playoff game against the Eagles.

A tear to the Achilles tendon is major. Especially when you’re talking about an athlete the size of Rankins. Full recovery following the surgery to repair the tendon will take at least six to eight months. That’s already getting into training camp and preseason. It can also take up to a year which would mean a lost season. ...

The New Orleans Saints are at a point where injured players should rest their bodies, because the team doesn’t have much to play for collectively. That sentiment applies to Derek Carr and Chris Olave, but it doesn’t apply to Alvin Kamara.

What makes Kamara different? Kamara is 50 yards away from his first season with 1,000 rushing yards. He has a clear and valuable objective he can hit. Carr’s version of that would have been playing the Las Vegas Raiders this week.

Darren Rizzi told reporters the running back has “a very realistic shot” at playing next week, and that Kamara has the...

It’s already Week 17 and the New Orleans Saints are set to take on the Las Vegas Raiders in the Caesars Superdome on Sunday, which will be their last home for the 2024 season.

Earlier this week, we asked our readers whether they thought the Saints were headed in the right direction and just 8% said they think that the Saints are.

This comes after New Orleans lost 34-0 in Lambeau to the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football. If the Saints are victorious at home Sunday afternoon, I expect those numbers to come climbing up next week.

The New Orleans Saints never figured out how to use Zack Baun throughout his rookie contract. Now that he is starring for the Philadelphia Eagles, he has started to look back at what went wrong with the Saints.

Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports recently spoke with Baun about his time in New Orleans and those four years seemed to be incredibly tough for him:

In 15 games with the Eagles this season, he has 145 tackles with 3.5 sacks and 11 tackles for a loss. That is more in each category than he had during his entire time with the Saints.

Though it was easy to see the talent when New Orleans...

The New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders will square off in the Superdome on Sunday afternoon. The two teams are both projected to have top 10 picks this April, so this game has a lot of draft implications.

The Raiders offense has not been very good this season. They’re averaging 17.6 points per game, which ranks 29th in the league and have had a revolving door at quarterback. It seems like Aidan O’Connell is in line to start this game after he was inactive a week ago. The former Purdue QB has thrown for 1,156 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions in seven appearances this...
