The New Orleans Saints are once again on the recruiting trail, looking for the next person to lead the football team as head coach. The iconic on-field leader of the last era and almost certainly the best player to ever don black and gold, Drew Brees, has made his choice clear.

Speaking to Crissy Froyd of USA Today, Brees said his top pick is Aaron Glenn, currently the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions.

Glenn would come in with plenty of experience, having spent his final playing season with New Orleans and circling back in his coaching career in 2016 a role before his time as a coordinator with Detroit. Glenn and his offensive counterpart, Ben Johnson, are thought to be two of the most coveted candidates in this year's coaching cycle.

While Brees has no official capacity with the Saints organization, his opinion is certainly revered at the very least as the franchise's all-time leader in passing yardage, passing touchdowns and approximate value. ...

The Brandon Staley conundrum: What makes the Saints DC so interesting?

Dennis Allen didn’t work as the New Orleans Saints head coach, but he was able to land a job with the Chicago Bears as their defensive coordinator in a matter of months. Matter of fact, Allen failed as the Oakland Raiders head coach becoming the Saints defensive coordinator.

The sentiment you can be a better coordinator than head coach is one Saints fans have heard since hiring Brandon Staley. Staley’s tenure as the leader of the Los Angeles Chargers didn’t go well.

This is where things get interesting. Staley comes to New Orleans with limited experience as a defensive coordinator. He...

Here’s a big move for Kellen Moore’s New Orleans Saints coaching staff. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that the Saints are hiring Texas Longhorns defensive pass game coordinator Terry Joseph for the same role under Brandon Staley; Joseph has also coached defensive backs at Texas, so expect him to play a key role in rebuilding the secondary. Nola.com’s Luke Johnson confirmed the news of Joseph’s addition.

Joseph, a 51-year old New Orleans native, has been coaching at the college level for a long time. But before that he started his coaching career at Archbishop Shaw High School, his...

The 2024 season was a turbulent one for the New Orleans Saints receiving corps to say the least. The season started with Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed being the top two options, but neither player made it past Week 9 before suffering a season ending injury. Prior to the injuries, Olave was having another solid season, catching 32 passes for 400 yards in 8 games, (which still wound up being tops among wide receivers for the Saints in 2024) but Shaheed was in the midst of a breakout year.

He gained 73+ yards in 4 of 6 games and also caught three touchdowns while averaging 17.5 yards per...

Saints considered surprising college coach for defensive coordinator opening

The New Orleans Saints have selected all three of their coordinator positions, wrapping things up by hiring Brandon Staley as their defensive coordinator. They had plenty of options when it came to making a choice, but ultimately they went with the one who Kellen Moore worked with in 2023 and had some head coaching experience (albeit not great experience).

However, there were other options being considered, and after the hire was made, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reported that they had considered Colorado Buffaloes defensive coordinator Robert Livingston for the position.

The 2025 NFL Draft is only a little ways away now, but with free agency and the NFL Scouting Combine between now and then, there are plenty of things to discuss before that point. With the New Orleans Saints having a relatively strong presence at the Senior Bowl and other events, there have been steady reports coming out regarding which prospects they have met with.

In a recent article from The Draft Network, Justin Melo interviewed Minnesota-Duluth interior offensive lineman Aiden Williams, who discussed the interest he has received around the league.

“I met with all 32 teams at the...

This past Saturday, Yulman Stadium played host to the fourth annual HBCU Legacy Bowl. Treqwan Thomas, a defensive lineman from Alabama State, was awarded defensive MVP.

With the help of his four sacks, team Robinson was able to win the game against team Gaither by a score of 17-14.

“I just did my one of 11’s, bro,” Thomas said postgame. "I did my job, my teammates did their job, and hey, I came out with four.”

The Alabama State Hornet called the game a special experience.

“I ain’t going to lie, I’m speechless right now. I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Thomas said when asked how the game...

Daniel Jeremiah believes Saints should draft one of two Georgia pass rushers

The New Orleans Saints have many things to go over when it comes to the offseason, and specifically the 2025 NFL draft, as they look to build a young core to provide Kellen Moore with some fresh talent. The main question from now until then will be which position they select with their No. 9 overall pick, and then the following picks they have throughout the rest of the draft.

One option would be selecting a high-upside defensive end, building in a similar manner to how the Philadelphia Eagles did, through the trenches. With two standout Georgia pass rushers in this class, the Saints may...

Should Saints consider Texas WR Isaiah Bond? 2025 NFL draft projection

The New Orleans Saints need a third receiver to pair with Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, which puts the position among the options in the 2025 NFL draft.

There is no telling when the Saints will opt to address the need in the draft, given just how many holes they have to fill, but Day 2 could be a good time to do it.

One of the more popular names that will be floating around will be Texas Longhorns speedster Isaiah Bond. Does he make sense for New Orleans, though?

Bond spent three years in college between the Longhorns and the Alabama Crimson Tide. He had 99 catches for 1,428 yards...

How Kellen Moore's offense would impact incoming rookie QBs

Jaxson Dart seems to be the one quarterback, other than Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward, who NFL draft experts believe has a chance to creep into the first round. Because of this, there’s a big spotlight on his progression through the pre-draft process. How would he fit in Kellen Moore’s offense with the New Orleans Saints?

Walking away from the Senior Bowl, one big flaw highlighted in Dart’s game was his issues taking snaps under center. In general, the game has become more shotgun-based, but that’s especially true for Kellen Moore’s offense.

If Dart is selected by the New Orleans Saints...

Saints target a surprising QB in this unique PFF mock draft

It’s mock draft season, and Pro Football Focus’ Nathan Jahnke is doing an interesting exercise. He just did a mock draft with no trades, and every team had to draft an offensive skill player. So, no offensive linemen and no defenders.

Jahnke also excluded Travis Hunter under the assumption he would play primarily defense as a professional.

With only offensive playmakers on the board, the New Orleans Saints landed on Jalen Milroe to lead Kellen Moore’s offense. They chose to pass on Omarion Hampton and Jaxson Dart in favor of Milroe.

Passing on Hampton could simply be about how Jahnke...
