The New Orleans Saints are hiring California Golden Bears defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon to come work as their new linebackers coach, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. He’s another new arrival with few connections to the old Sean Payton-Dennis Allen regime, and will work as a position coach under defensive coordinator Brandon Staley.

Sirmon, 48, was a fourth-round pick by the Tennessee Titans back in 2000 and played for them until 2006. A former linebacker himself, he’s continued to coach that position at a number of college stops over the years — he overlapped with Terry Joseph, the Saints’...

NFL Combine week is here, which means all 32 NFL teams will have valuable time with prospects behind closed doors. These are the moments when these future NFL Draft selections can change the thought process of teams and reveal new things that may not have shown up on tape. The scouts have been looking at these prospects since last year’s draft, but for the coaches, prospect meetings are where an impression can be made, and draft plans can be changed in minutes.

Alontae Taylor spent time with the athletes at the HBCU Legacy Bowl over the course of the week and reflected on his experience with New Orleans Saints team reporter Erin Summers.

The Saints defensive back is in the position these prospects are aiming to be in, so he’s more than qualified to give them advice.

Prior to the practices for the all star game, the players went through the HBCU Combine. Alabama A&M offensive tackle Carson Vinson was the only HBCU player invited to the NFL Scouting Combine this year. This event allowed more HBCU players to go through the process in front of all...

The 2025 NFL draft is growing ever nearer, and with a new head coach for the New Orleans Saints, things have become even more interesting when it comes to predicting their draft needs. As Kellen Moore begins to build his coaching staff, and eventually his roster through free agency, he will have decisions to make on who to allow to depart and replace with draft prospects.

With Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Media recently completing his yearly pre-combine conference call discussing this year’s top prospects, we figured we would take a look at what he had to say regarding the prospects many Saints fans have been calling for in recent weeks. Keep in mind there are some left out due to them not being discussed, the four listed are some of the most common players of intrigue lately, however. Some of them have been popular picks in fan-driven mock drafts, others look like shoo-in picks for Kellen Moore and Co. to build around.

With that said, here is what Jeremiah had for analysis on some of the top prospects Saints fans have linked to their team.

The New Orleans Saints have continued to add to their coaching staff, signing longtime college assistant coach Terry Joseph as their new defensive pass game coordinator.

Joseph is a New Orleans native that has been with the Texas Longhorns since 2021. Along with needing help with coaching in the secondary, it is also a need this offseason.

When it comes time to narrow down prospects for the 2025 NFL draft, Joseph could provide some key insight on a couple of top prospects that would make sense as targets for the Saints. He’s had hands-on experience coaching several Longhorns defensive...

The first addition Brandon Staley made to his staff was hiring Terry Joseph as the New Orleans Saints pass game coordinator. Joseph comes to New Orleans from Texas. A comment made by one of his former players brings another benefit of this hire to the forefront.

Safety Jahdae Barron posted on social media that Joseph “changed his life” in response to Joseph joining the staff. This of course highlights Joseph’s coaching ability and leadership skills. It’s also a reminder of Joseph’s connection to potential NFL draft targets.

Texas provides multiple options at positions of need for New...

Alontae Taylor has been vocal on social media this offseason. After the Philadelphia Eagles blew out the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, Taylor walked away impressed with Kellen Moore and the Eagles defense.

Taylor sent a message to Moore via Instagram Live, “we need the best defensive coordinator you can find that’s available.” Taylor wanted Moore to bring the aggressive, dominant defense he saw at the Super Bowl to New Orleans.

The New Orleans Saints hired Brandon Staley. Staley hails from the Fangio coaching tree and spent his first three years in the NFL under now-Eagles...

What to watch out for at this year’s NFL Combine

The 2025 NFL Combine is nearly here, and this will be a massive week for the New Orleans Saints. The coaching staff is almost complete, and this will be the first time they can get their eyes on some prospects as a collective group. Regarding the Combine as a whole, this is the time when certain prospects’ positions on draft boards drastically change. Also, it is important to note that the combine is not just about the prospects.

Rumors swirl during this week, but many have some truth behind them. Last year, the stories of Kirk Cousins to the Atlanta Falcons rumors gained momentum during...

Derek Carr isn’t guaranteed to be the New Orleans Saints starting quarterback in 2025, but if he is, FanDuel believes the Saints will have the second-worst starting quarterback in the NFL.

FanDuel took the liberty of speculating what quarterbacks will change teams in the offseason, so it should be assumed Spencer Rattler wouldn’t beat out Carr in the situation or that Rattler’s ranking would be in the same place.

What’s notable is Carr is behind four quarterbacks who didn’t start last season: Justin Fields, J.J. McCarthy, Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward.

Sanders and Ward may be the NFL...

The NFL offseason is here, and the New Orleans Saints have gotten the big decision out of the way by hiring their new head coach, Kellen Moore. Now they have to wait until free agency opens up in early March, and will have time to discuss which of their own they wish to keep, and who should depart.

One of the players that will hit free agency is 2020 undrafted free agent Juwan Johnson, who the Saints have developed from a wide receiver into a serviceable tight end. Despite that, minimal growth in 2024 and struggles to truly break out as a quality weapon on offense has left the Saints with...
