There have been plenty of maligned New Orleans Saints draft picks in recent years, but one of the most challenged was offensive guard Cesar Ruiz.

The Michigan Wolverines product was a first round selection in the 2023 NFL draft, which meant expectations were going to be high right away. It is safe to say he did not match the bar set for him, which led to a lot of fans wanting him off the team.

Now only did the Saints not cut him, but they doubled down and signed him to an extension. To give credit to Ruiz, he has been steadily improving each season. He may still not be an All-Pro, or the...

The New Orleans Saints are nearing the offseason once again, and as the time passes by, we have some time to consider the previous year of signings and departures. While the 2024 offseason was not particularly one filled with an exorbitant amount of moves for the Saints, there were definitely some notable ones that made things interesting.

One of the more intriguing departures from the Saints was cornerback Isaac Yiadom, who after a career year ended up leaving them in pursuit of a new free-agent deal, and found one with the San Francisco 49ers. Here’s how things have gone for him both...

For former New Orleans Saints Interim Head Coach Darren Rizzi, it didn’t take long to find a new home.

Amidst a difficult and turbulent 2024 campaign that saw head coach Dennis Allen be fired after a 2-7 start, Rizzi stepped up to the plate and led the Saints to a 3-5 record.

He brought a spark of energy and excitement to the Saints and their fans and made a difficult season a lot more enjoyable to rewatch.

This move will reunite him with Sean Payton and return him to a role he’s seen nothing but success with thus far in his career.

As expected, the Denver Broncos are hiring former New Orleans Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi to Sean Payton’s staff as special teams coordinator, as first reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Rizzi went 3-5 after taking over from Dennis Allen last season and earned a shot at the full-time head coaching job, but ultimately the Saints chose to go in a different direction.

So he’ll be reuniting with Payton and many former coworkers in Denver. Payton brought Rizzi to New Orleans in the first place after he parted ways with the Miami Dolphins, ending a long run as their own special...

The New Orleans Saints have their coach after hiring Kellen Moore. They know which players are headed for free agency in March and which draft picks (or at least most of them) they own for the big event in April. So which dates should fans circle on their calendars?

Moore’s first offseason as a head coach will be full of big decisions. He needs to finish filling out his coaching staff and then turn his attention to the personnel on the roster. Some of those decisions will be impacted by guarantee trigger dates written into players’ contracts and other deadlines. Here are the flashpoints we’re watching out for in the weeks and months ahead:

It’s been official for a couple of days now, but former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator and Super Bowl LIX champion, Kellen Moore, is the new head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

The hire signals a new era of New Orleans football, with all ties to Sean Payton officially severed. The focus for the next week or two will be building a new staff, but shortly after that, they will put all their time and energy into free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft.

It’s no secret that the Saints roster isn’t the best and has some massive holes, but luckily for Moore, he has a lot of draft capital...

The New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms with Chase Haslett to be their new tight ends coach per a report by NFLN’s Mike Garafolo.

Haslett will reunite with new Saints head coach Kellen Moore. The two previously worked together on the Dallas Cowboys staff from 2020-2022.

Chase’s father, Jim Haslett was the head coach of the Saints from 2000-2005.

In 2020, Haslett began his NFL coaching career in Dallas, as their offensive quality coach back. He was promoted to assistant tight ends coach in 2023, and served as their passing game coordinator last season.

Yaccarino: Give Kellen Moore some time

Kellen Moore is now officially the new head coach of the New Orleans Saints, and although it is extremely exciting, some things need to be understood going into next season. Seeing immediate success in 2025 should not be expected, and really, the first year of a head coach’s tenure should be treated like a rookie year. In addition, the Saints and Moore understand that rebuilding this team will be a process, and this roster is not in a great spot.

With some aging veterans, bad contracts, lack of young talent, a question mark at quarterback, and so many holes on the roster, New Orleans has...

Let’s take a look at some of the key points from the introductory press conference of the 19th head coach in New Orleans Saints history, Kellen Moore.

The Saints brought back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, a former Super Bowl champ and national champion with the LSU Tigers.

The Saints will not be back to winning the NFC and Lombardi Trophies overnight. It will take some time and patience to get back to where the Black and Gold are perennial contenders.

The New Orleans Saints have a significant decision looming regarding starting QB Derek Carr’s future in the Big Easy. If they choose to move on from the veteran signal-caller, Laurier Golden Hawks QB Taylor Elgersma could make sense as a Day 3 NFL Draft pick.

The 6’6”, 220-pound gunslinger has a cannon for an arm, can extend plays with his legs, and I’d consider his decisiveness above average. Elgersma had a breakout senior season, completing 293 of his 397 pass attempts (73.8%) for 4,252 yards, 35 touchdowns, and just 11 interceptions in 13 games played. He was the winner of the 2024 Hec...
