Ingram’s suspension hurts, but it’s not the end of the world.

By Chris Dunnells

In 2017, the New Orleans Saints’ Running Backs were really something special. After jettisoning off future Hall of Fame RB Adrian Peterson after Week 4, rookie Alvin Kamara and veteran Mark Ingram took off.

“Boom and Zoom,” as they became known, each had a Pro Bowl season as the duo become the first backfield to each have over 1,500 yards from scrimmage a piece. Ingram set a career high with 1,124 yards and Kamara, the NFL’s most efficient rusher, set a record for the most yards per touch, 7.7, with a minimum of 200 touches. Oh yeah, and Kamara added an extra 106 yards and a TD on kickoff returns.

So here’s why they’re better in 2018:

Let’s start by addressing the elephant in the room: the 4-game suspension of Mark Ingram hurts. Make no mistake about it: Ingram’s presence in both the ground game and in pass-protection will be missed.

Final projection opens the door for Saints to get multiple 2025 comp picks

The New Orleans Saints have stocked up on a decent amount of NFL draft picks so far heading into the 2025 offseason. They currently sit on seven selection, with an additional compensatory pick likely to be added in the seventh round. That corresponds to the loss of cornerback Isaac Yiadom in free agency. The Saints won’t get compensation for losing linebacker Zack Baun to the Philadelphia Eagles after signing defensive end Chase Young.

However, they could potentially pick up another compensatory seventh-round pick (for defensive tackle Malcolm Roach going to the Denver Broncos) pending...

Saints free agent preview: WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, stay or go?

The New Orleans Saints tough 2024 season is thankfully over, and now they get to look ahead to bigger and better things like their head coach hiring process, the 2025 NFL draft, and working on signings/re-signings in the coming weeks once the playoffs wrap up. This is an intriguing offseason when it comes to bringing back players, as there are not a ton of quality Saints players hitting the market, but there are certainly a few, and then many good depth pieces behind that.

One of the most interesting ones will be wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who signed with the Saints back in...

The Dallas Cowboys announced they hired Brian Schottenheimer as their head coach late Friday evening, meaning the New Orleans Saints are now the only team that remains looking for a head coach. They ended up playing the long game, and chose to wait out the other teams to get their choice of the remaining candidates. While this is a decision that could go either way, many of the candidates they did interview still remain which is a somewhat good sign.

The other six teams and their head coaching hires are as follows:

One positive is Liam Coen moving on from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as...

Anthony Weaver, the Miami Dolphins' defensive coordinator, was interviewed in person by the New Orleans Saints on Friday. This was the Saints first in-person interview of the head coaching cycle.

Weaver, 44, has only been with the Dolphins for one year; however, he has a total of 13 years of NFL coaching experience. He also spent seven seasons in the NFL as a defensive end (four in Baltimore and three in Houston).

Players describe Weaver as a passionate coach who cares for his players.

“You wanna go out and play for him; you wanna go out there and play well and perform and do the things...

The New Orleans Saints have gotten past the snowy weather and are back to interviewing some head coach candidates announced they have completed their second interview with Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.

Weaver has been a growing name in the coaching cycle for the last couple of years and will almost certainly get a job at some point in the near future. He does not look to be interviewing with the Dallas...

B/R names Saints the worst offseason landing spot for their own former QB

The New Orleans Saints quarterback situation is all of a sudden up in the air with speculation on a Derek Carr trade starting to heat up. If that happens, the Saints would likely be in the market for a new veteran to guide their younger passers on the roster.

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox recently suggested they avoid a reunion with a former quarterback, as they were named the worst landing spot for Andy Dalton this offseason. Here is what Knox had to say about his reasoning:

For reference, the best landing spot was with the Tennessee Titans. That is a spot that he could get a...

The New Orleans Saints lost their top head coach candidate, Aaron Glenn, to the New York Jets, but they aren’t at risk of losing any others on their list. They’ll have their pick of Joe Brady, Mike McCarthy, Mike Kafka, Anthony Weaver and Darren Rizzi.

The dominos were expected to fall quickly after Glenn and Ben Johnson were free to sign, and that’s exactly what happened.

Johnson went to the Chicago Bears, and the offensive coaches started coming off the board. The Las Vegas Raiders are rolling with Pete Carroll, and the Jacksonville Jaguars’ wild coaching search is ending with Liam...

Let’s look at a three-round mock draft for the New Orleans Saints heading into Conference Championships week.

Now that the Jacksonville Jaguars have hired Liam Coen, the Saints look to be a top option remaining in the coaching cycle.

After Winter Storm Enzo threw wrenches into the coaching search for the Black and Gold, New Orleans is trying to get back in the game.

Two former Saints in the running for Defensive Player of the Year

Zack Baun and Trey Hendrickson making first-team All Pro was a great reminder of the talent the New Orleans Saints let walk out of the building. As if that wasn’t enough, both men are also finalists for Defensive Player of the Year.

In a season, where there wasn’t a defensive player, or players, who clearly stood over the rest of the pack, this award seems up in the air.

Baun winning the award feels like a long shot due to his position. He was great in his first year with the Philadelphia Eagles, but Luke Kuechly was the last linebacker to win this award over a decade ago.

Ironically...

One of the best times of football season has arrived - mock draft season! The idea of scouting and predicting which players a team will draft has always been one of my favorite parts of the season. During my 2024 mock draft 1.0, I stated how in love I was with Oregon State’s Taliese Fuaga, and the rookie tackle was later selected by the New Orleans Saints and performed greatly. So maybe, just maybe, we can go two for two on first-round predictions.

For my mock drafts, I use multiple mock draft simulators to help simulate how other teams may draft on the big night. These simulators are...
