The New Orleans Saints had a welcome sight last week at the final OTA workout, when receiver Cameron Meredith participated in individual drills.

The 25-year-old receiver is coming off a knee injury that kept him out for the entire 2017 season. However, his time on the practice field is a sign that the 6-foot-3, 207-pound receiver the Saints signed as a restricted free agent this offseason is ahead of his recovery schedule.

Despite the progress, Meredith said he and the team are both being patient with his injury and he is still aiming to be ready for the season.

"That's the main objective," Meredith said last week. "Going to the season healthy so that I can go out there and do what I do best and be there for the 2018 season."

The 2025 NFL offseason is growing ever closer, and with that, the New Orleans Saints have quite a few unrestricted free agents to focus on in the coming weeks. While there are no players in the class for them that are elite perse, they have a solid group of starters and depth who may be worth retaining or considering. With their cap space not particularly looking great this season, they have decisions to make on who to retain and who may have to leave to afford upgrades and their draft class eventually.

With that said, let’s take a look at the Saints 10 higher priority unrestricted free agents of the 19 they have, and whether or not they should be retained:

Good on Erik McCoy — the New Orleans Saints’ starting center accepted an invitation to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games, meaning the black and gold will be represented at this year’s all-star event after all. The Saints were the only team left off the NFC’s initial roster, but McCoy was selected as a first alternate. With Cam Jurgens leading the Philadelphia Eagles to Super Bowl LIX, a spot opened up for McCoy to step in.

This is the second time in McCoy’s career that he’s earned a place at the Pro Bowl; he made the trip for the first time last year. He turned in quality game tape despite dealing...

The New Orleans Saints are currently looking to find their next head coach. The search hasn’t gone according to plan, as Aaron Glenn didn’t even take an in-person interview with the team, and Joe Brady pulled himself from the race.

The team’s current candidates are Anthony Weaver, Mike Kafka, Kellen Moore, Darren Rizzi, Mike McCarthy, and maybe Kliff Kingsbury. Besides Kingsbury, this list doesn’t really inspire me. So, today, we’re going to highlight five candidates that the Saints should look at if they expand their search:

The 2025 NFL conference championship round is completed, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles coming out on top of their respective matchups. Now we wait until Feb. 9 for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, where the season will wrap up and the champion will be crowned. Regardless of that outcome, we learned quite a bit about the landscape of the NFL from these two games, and we also learned a bit for the Saints as well.

Is the value of the running back position back? Did the Saints win the Marshon Lattimore trade? How important is coaching overall? There were a lot of questions entering the playoffs this year, and many have been answered by now. Here are five of the most notable, and what we learned regarding them from this set of playoff games:

Another former New Orleans Saints coach will be on the move this offseason, and this time it is Denver Broncos tight ends coach Declan Doyle moving on to join the Chicago Bears as their offensive coordinator. This will be the second former Saints coach joining as a coordinator under Ben Johnson, with Dennis Allen recently hired as the defensive coordinator for them as well.

Doyle was an offensive assistant with the Saints from 2019 to 2022, and then a year after Sean Payton left went to follow him to the Broncos, working there as a tight ends coach in 2023 and 2024. He has now gone to the...

The New Orleans Saints have a mountain of needs to address in the 2025 NFL draft, which could lead to them taking a best player available approach. That means they could dip into a position that already has a couple of starters, like wide receiver.

If they do go after a wideout, the most likely top option to be available for them would be Arizona Wildcats star Tetairoa McMillan. Does he make sense for the Saints to target, though?

There are some fun receivers in the top of the draft, like Luther Burden or Emeka Egbuka, that might be too similar to what they already have in Chris Olave or...

Chase Young was the New Orleans Saints’ biggest free agency acquisition last offseason. Things began slow for Young but he began to validate some of the belief the Saints showed in him as the season went on.

This improvement was seen across the defensive line after transitioning from Todd Grantham to Brian Young as the defensive line coach. Young, Brian Bresee and Cameron Jordan saw the most noticeable improvements.

Pro Football Focus highlighted Young as one of the biggest risers in the second half of the season. How PFF divided the aligns with Darren Rizzi replacing Dennis Allen, Weeks...

With the Washington Commanders now eliminated by the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game, their offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury has been freed up to complete interviews with teams for coaching positions. And one of the teams that expressed interest in him is the last one remaining: the New Orleans Saints.

Kingsbury did have the option to do a preliminary interview a few weeks prior, however he choose to focus completely on the playoff run, which is admirable. Washington came within a game of the Super Bowl largely due to his work with rookie quarterback...

The New Orleans Saints have always been a team that highly values Senior Bowl attendees, drafting them at a relatively high clip and always trying to take part in the event. This year seemingly will be no different, as they will have offensive assistant Kevin Petry coaching the wide receiver group for the American Team, which has quite a significant talent pool.

Petry has been coaching with the Saints for eight seasons now, entering his ninth, and has been with the organization for 12 years in various positions including as a video assistant early on. He will be able to get a first hand...

Earlier today, the Senior Bowls announced the group of players that he will be coaching and they could end up being some intriguing names to keep an eye on in the 2025 NFL draft for the Saints. Many New Orleans fans will already recognize a few of the names from their college days.

Evans will be coaching the American Team offensive line, which includes Kansas Jayhawks tackle Logan Brown, Missouri Tigers tackle Armand Membou and...
