The parents at Benjamin Franklin High School got the drive started.

Drew Brees provided the big plays to take it down into the red zone.

With the fundraising muscle of the Brees Dream Foundation, the Saints and the NFL behind the effort, Benjamin Franklin held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday to celebrate the start of a $545,000 renovation of the locker rooms, the construction of a concession stand and a press box at the football field, as well as further upgrades to the Benjamin Franklin athletic facilities, including permanent lighting.

Benjamin Franklin has raised $485,000 toward the project already and expects to begin construction as soon as June 1, assistant principal Donald Jackson said.

Last one out, turn off the lights. The New Orleans Saints have lost a few coaches to lateral moves around the league as they continue to search for a new head coach, who will want to build their own staff — most notably losing offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak to the Seattle Seahawks, where he’ll have the same position.

But here’s another departure. The Cincinnati Bengals announced Monday that they have hired longtime Saints linebackers coach Michael Hodges for the same role on Zac Taylor’s staff. Hodges had been on staff with New Orleans since 2017, and he’s highly regarded around the...

With former New Orleans Saints OC Klint Kubiak taking the same position with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon, the Saints are now looking for their third offensive play caller in as many years. The team has considered several offensive-minded head coach candidates who could take over play-calling duties from Kubiak. They’ve already completed an in-person interview with New York Giants OC Mike Kafka and have plans to interview Philadelphia Eagles OC Kellen Moore and former Dallas Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy for the vacant position. Additionally, they requested to interview Washington...

The 2025 NFL offseason is growing ever closer, and with that, the New Orleans Saints have quite a few unrestricted free agents to focus on in the coming weeks. While there are no players in the class for them that are elite perse, they have a solid group of starters and depth who may be worth retaining or considering. With their cap space not particularly looking great this season, they have decisions to make on who to retain and who may have to leave to afford upgrades and their draft class eventually.

With that said, let’s take a look at the Saints 10 higher priority unrestricted free agents of the 19 they have, and whether or not they should be retained:

Good on Erik McCoy — the New Orleans Saints’ starting center accepted an invitation to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games, meaning the black and gold will be represented at this year’s all-star event after all. The Saints were the only team left off the NFC’s initial roster, but McCoy was selected as a first alternate. With Cam Jurgens leading the Philadelphia Eagles to Super Bowl LIX, a spot opened up for McCoy to step in.

This is the second time in McCoy’s career that he’s earned a place at the Pro Bowl; he made the trip for the first time last year. He turned in quality game tape despite dealing...

The New Orleans Saints are currently looking to find their next head coach. The search hasn’t gone according to plan, as Aaron Glenn didn’t even take an in-person interview with the team, and Joe Brady pulled himself from the race.

The team’s current candidates are Anthony Weaver, Mike Kafka, Kellen Moore, Darren Rizzi, Mike McCarthy, and maybe Kliff Kingsbury. Besides Kingsbury, this list doesn’t really inspire me. So, today, we’re going to highlight five candidates that the Saints should look at if they expand their search:

The 2025 NFL conference championship round is completed, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles coming out on top of their respective matchups. Now we wait until Feb. 9 for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, where the season will wrap up and the champion will be crowned. Regardless of that outcome, we learned quite a bit about the landscape of the NFL from these two games, and we also learned a bit for the Saints as well.

Is the value of the running back position back? Did the Saints win the Marshon Lattimore trade? How important is coaching overall? There were a lot of questions entering the playoffs this year, and many have been answered by now. Here are five of the most notable, and what we learned regarding them from this set of playoff games:

The New Orleans Saints will have another coach at the Senior Bowl, this time it is offensive assistant Jordan Traylor, who will be handling the quarterback coach position for the National Team. With this, he will gain the opportunity to with with Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel, Wilfrid Laurier quarterback Taylor Elgersma, and Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough.

One of the most intriguing parts about this is that Elgersma will be the second player ever from a USports school (the governing body of Canadian university sports) to attend the Senior Bowl, with the only other one being...

Another former New Orleans Saints coach will be on the move this offseason, and this time it is Denver Broncos tight ends coach Declan Doyle moving on to join the Chicago Bears as their offensive coordinator. This will be the second former Saints coach joining as a coordinator under Ben Johnson, with Dennis Allen recently hired as the defensive coordinator for them as well.

Doyle was an offensive assistant with the Saints from 2019 to 2022, and then a year after Sean Payton left went to follow him to the Broncos, working there as a tight ends coach in 2023 and 2024. He has now gone to the...

The New Orleans Saints have a mountain of needs to address in the 2025 NFL draft, which could lead to them taking a best player available approach. That means they could dip into a position that already has a couple of starters, like wide receiver.

If they do go after a wideout, the most likely top option to be available for them would be Arizona Wildcats star Tetairoa McMillan. Does he make sense for the Saints to target, though?

There are some fun receivers in the top of the draft, like Luther Burden or Emeka Egbuka, that might be too similar to what they already have in Chris Olave or...
