Nick Saban had somewhere to be, but golf partner Mark Ingram wasn’t having it.

Saban was recounting when he and Ingram finished second to Georgia Tech pair Paul Johnson and Jon Berry in the 2015 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge at Reynolds Lake Oconee Resort outside Atlanta.

“We were in the playoff with Georgia Tech to win on about the fifth extra hole,” Saban said. “I said, ‘Mark, this is my last hole. I have to go speak.’ There are whole load of people at the plane and they’re all calling every five minutes saying, ‘We’ve got a 1,000 people you got to speak to tonight. We’re going to be late.’”

NEW ORLEANS — The most disappointing Saints season this century is over.

5-12.

My generation of New Orleanians has certainly seen worse. But it's been a long time.

If you like to take a Saints road trip, the choices next season are good.

Chicago, Nashville, and Buffalo are interesting, as long as it's not December.

And here's an interesting note: Only four of the Saints' 17 games next season will be against teams that made the playoffs this season.

Because New Orleans will play a fourth-place schedule.

That's right, the Saints officially finished last in the NFC South behind* the...

The New Orleans Saints announced Monday evening they have officially signed a total of nine players to the reserve/future contracts after the conclusion of the 2024 season. Each of them spent the year on the Saints practice squad, so they’ll return for a chance at competing for a roster spot over the summer.

The team finished at 5-12 overall following the 27-19 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which sent that team to the playoffs as the kings of the NFC South, pushing the Atlanta Falcons out of postseason contention entirely.

The Saints got those new deals in order as they prepare to head into a long offseason that will include coaching changes and more shakeups, all leading up to a very important 2025 NFL draft.

Here’s a look at each returning player on Monday’s list of transactions:

Here’s a wild card for you. The New Orleans Saints have reportedly requested an interview with New York Giants assistant head coach Mike Kafka, per NFL insider Josina Anderson. Kafka has also held the title of offensive coordinator for Big Blue, but he’s only called plays sparingly under head coach Brian Daboll.

Kafka lost those play calling responsibilities altogether in 2024, but he took a high road and said he was taking it as a learning opportunity. He’s under contract with the Giants through 2025 but you have to think he’d jump at the opportunity to try his hand elsewhere.

He’s...

The New Orleans Saints’ search for their next head coach is off to a hot start. The team has been linked to many names such as Aaron Glenn, Joe Brady, Matt Nagy, Kellen Moore, and several others, and we’re just getting started.

And a new name was just added to the mix: Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that the Saints have put in a formal request to speak with him, too. The Dolphins defense performed well this season as they ranked fourth in yards allowed a game. His unit was also tenth in the league in points allowed.

Weaver...

As expected, Saints formally request interview with Lions DC Aaron Glenn

As expected, the New Orleans Saints have formally requested an interview with Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn for their head coach position, per The MMQB’s Albert Breer. Glenn is widely seen as a favorite in their search for a new coach, but that doesn’t mean the job is necessarily his to lose. That’s just the public perception.

There are several good reasons for the Saints to want to sit down with Glenn, though. He’s accomplished a lot with little to work with after injuries almost literally decimated the Lions defense this season, knocking out starters and key...

The New Orleans Saints have officially begun their search for a head coach on Monday, requesting an interview from Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Moore, the former Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys quarterback, started his coaching career in 2018 as the Cowboys quarterbacks coach. From there, he was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2019 where he would spend the next four years, leading two No. 1 ranked offenses (’19, ’21) during his tenure. Moore would then be hired by the Los Angeles Chargers under head coach Brandon Staley in 2023. His time there would be...

Here’s another offensive coach added to the list of candidates that the New Orleans Saints have requested to interview: Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady. Like Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, he was a former Saints offensive assistant under Sean Payton during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

But Brady started his coaching career as the linebackers coach at his alma mater, William & Mary in 2013. After a couple years with the team, Brady would join Penn State as a graduate assistant before getting his shot in the league. Brady would spend two years with the Saints before...
