The New Orleans Saints continue to build out their defensive staff.

From ESPN's Pete Thamel on Tuesday afternoon, the team is hiring California Golden Bears defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon to be their new linebackers coach. The report was also confirmed by NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill.

Kellen Moore's staff continues to be very intriguing, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. In the past week, New Orleans named Brandon Staley as their defensive coordinator and hired Terry Joseph to be their defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator.

As for Peter Sirmon, who just turned 48, he's been a coach in college since 2008 when he got his start with Central Washington as a linebackers coach. The New Orleans Saints officially hired Doug Nussmeier as their new offensive coordinator last week. The former Philadelphia Eagles QB coach has followed Kellen Moore around for his last three stops and now ends up in New Orleans with a promotion.

Nussmeier was the obvious favorite for the job ever since speculation of Moore becoming the Saints next head coach started swirling around on social media. Now that he officially has the job, I thought we could take a look at some things to know about the Saints new OC.

As most of you know by now, Nussmeier is a former college and NFL...

The New Orleans Saints have undergone a lot of changes in recent weeks after bringing in head coach Kellen Moore on February 10.

Since then, the former offensive coordinator has been assembling his staff, finding a good mix of people he’s worked with and people who would bring a ton of benefit to his team.

First, let’s look at the coaches he brought with him from the Philadelphia Eagles:

Moore brought in Doug Nussmeier, who played quarterback for the Saints in the 90s and his son is currently heading into his senior season at LSU. Ted Rath is also coming to New Orleans as the director...

With the New Orleans Saints putting the finishing touches on head coach Kellen Moore’s staff, let’s breakdown three 2025 NFL Draft prospects who could thrive under DC Brandon Staley, OC Doug Nussmeier, and STC Phil Galiano:

The unanimous 2024 First-Team All-American and projected lottery pick is one of the top talents in this year’s draft class and could provide much-needed help to the Saints’ interior defensive line.

The 6’3”, 320-pound powerhouse and 2024 Rose Bowl Defensive MVP has improved each season:

The New Orleans Saints coaching staff is nearly complete, but the defensive side still needs some roles to be filled. Yesterday, the Saints hired Texas assistant head coach/defensive pass game coordinator Terry Joseph to become the team’s defensive pass game coordinator. This was the first hire under DC Brandon Staley, and today, per Pete Thamel, the Saints have made their second addition, hiring Cal defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon to become their next linebackers coach.

This is the second coaching hire from college for the defensive staff, and it follows something NFL insider Ian...

The New Orleans Saints are hiring California Golden Bears defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon to come work as their new linebackers coach, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. He’s another new arrival with few connections to the old Sean Payton-Dennis Allen regime, and will work as a position coach under defensive coordinator Brandon Staley.

Sirmon, 48, was a fourth-round pick by the Tennessee Titans back in 2000 and played for them until 2006. A former linebacker himself, he’s continued to coach that position at a number of college stops over the years — he overlapped with Terry Joseph, the Saints’...

NFL Combine week is here, which means all 32 NFL teams will have valuable time with prospects behind closed doors. These are the moments when these future NFL Draft selections can change the thought process of teams and reveal new things that may not have shown up on tape. The scouts have been looking at these prospects since last year’s draft, but for the coaches, prospect meetings are where an impression can be made, and draft plans can be changed in minutes.
