Saints Team President Dennis Lauscha answered some questions to help provide some more context on what is going on with the Superdome renovations.

By John Hendrix - Saints News Network | SI
After being accused of being late on renovation payments for the Superdome, the Saints provided a team statement and have now even went a step further in the process. New Orleans released a Q&A with Team President Dennis Lauscha, as he sat down with Saints Vice President of Digital Media Doug Tatum to provide more context on what is going on.

“To date, we have paid the LSED $144.7 million," Lauscha said. "Our one-third share is $183 million. Our last payment was made on March 28, 2024, days following our March 20 meeting where we thought a consensus had been reached on the terms of a long-term lease. That payment was in the amount of $25.1 million."

The original cost estimate for the renovations to the Superdome $450 million, with the Saints set to contribute $150 million. However, things increased and the project was nearly $100 million more than the original projects due to budget and scope increases. Lauscha said in 2021 the Saints agreed to participate in and incur the additional increases. ...

Saints pick dynamic QB prospect in Bleacher Report's 5-year re-draft

The biggest problem for the New Orleans Saints is they don’t have the quarterback of the future. Derek Carr may show he can be better than he was a season ago, but he isn’t the 10-to-15 year answer moving forward. In Bleacher Report’s five-year re-draft, New Orleans solved their biggest problem.

This re-draft made every player drafted since 2020 eligible again. Teams had to take the player’s current contract as well. For example, Joe Burrow was selected second and the Tennessee Titans had to take his $300 million contract with him.

Draft order was determined in a lottery system that...

According to multiple sources observing the New Orleans Saints OTAs this past week, Payton Turner could be ready for a comeback season.

Turner was drafted by New Orleans out of the University of Houston in 2021. Since then, he has only played in 15 games. Last season, he only played in two games and recorded one tackle.

However, a healthy season may finally be on the horizon for the former first-round pick.

According to NOF.com’s Nick Underhill and Mike Triplett, Turner was spotted getting reps with the first team defense during OTAs. He also appeared to be healthy and active. It should...

Every NFL team (including the Saints) ranked by ESPN's projected win totals

Just how successful will the New Orleans Saints be in 2024? According to the latest win total projections released by ESPN’s Mike Clay, not too well — Clay has the Saints with just 8.8 wins, which rounds up to the same 9-8 record they achieved last year.

And as we saw, those weren’t enough wins to clinch a playoff berth. The Saints can’t settle for less than double-digit wins and hope to reach the postseason. They need to win as many divisional matchups as possible and knock out a couple of opponents from outside the NFC South. We’ve shared our own game-by-game predictions now that the...

Saints withholding Superdome payments until progress is made on long-term lease

NEW ORLEANS — The weeklong publicly-aired dispute between the New Orleans Saints and the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District comes down to one overriding issue – progress towards a long-term lease for the team in the stadium, New Orleans Saints and Pelicans President Dennis Lauscha said in a question and answer the team posted to its web site Friday.

The public awareness of any issue began earlier this week when the LSED, the state board appointed by the governor to manage the Superdome and the Smoothie King Center, said the Saints were behind on their share of payments to the group...

Saints have a history of moving offensive linemen around

  • News source: Darrion Gray

The New Orleans Saints offensive line will be very important to the success of the offense under offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. They want to be a run first offense. That requires a level of physicality and skill that must be initiated by the front line. The starting offensive line could consist of Taliese Fuaga, Nick Saldiveri, Erik McCoy, Cesar Ruiz and Trevor Penning.

Trevor Penning’s move to right tackle during OTAs emphasizes the Saints’ tendency to take offensive linemen away from their natural position. Of those five starting linemen, McCoy could be the only one playing in his...

Saints miss out on Taliese Fuaga, Kool-Aid McKinstry in too-soon 2024 re-draft

You know the New Orleans Saints made some great picks when they’re missing out on both of their top two selections in a way-too-soon 2024 re-draft. Draft Wire’s Curt Popejoy turned back the clock and redid the first 32 picks of this year’s draft with the benefit of hindsight. And the Saints missed out.

Both Taliese Fuaga (their first-round choice at No. 14) and Kool-Aid McKinstry (their second rounder, at No. 41) were picked by other teams before the Saints had a chance to get them. The New York Jets selected Fuaga instead of Penn State left tackle Olu Fashanu a couple of slots ahead of...

In this week’s CSC poll, we asked which of the following upsets are the New Orleans Saints most likely to pull:

After 343 votes, a win at the Dallas Cowboys was the most popular answer with 41.4% of the vote. The Saints have lost two of the last three against the Cowboys dating back to 2018, with the Cowboys taking the last matchup in 2021. The Saints will visit the Cowboys in Week 2, who have high expectations this year as they are tied with the Eagles for the best odds to win the NFC East. They will be a tough opponent, especially at home where they were unbeaten in the regular season...

Saints will be marching into Green Bay in late December

Last week, the NFL schedule was released, and unfortunately for the Saints, they’ll be marching into Green Bay for a late December visit.

According to the football database, they’ve played each other three times over the last four years. In that time the Saints have only won once, and last year’s loss is sure to have left a sour taste in the mouths of the team. It was just an overall lackluster and disappointing performance by the team overall. New Orleans will hope to remedy that come week 15 on December 23rd.

Differences from that unfortunate week three matchup are already clear...
