After a surprising shift in the New Orleans Saints head coach search, things are back up and running for the team following Sunday’s NFC Championship game.

After a commanding 55-23 victory over the Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is next on the list for New Orleans.

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Saints are likely to fly to Philadelphia as early as Monday to conduct an in-person interview with Moore for their open head coach position.

Things are picking up for the New Orleans Saints, who are joining the rest of the NFL in Indianapolis over the weekend for the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. The Saints are hiring former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley as their new defensive coordinator on Kellen Moore’s staff, but for the most part, Staley has a blank slate to work with. The only defensive coaches on the team who have hung around since last season are, so far, pass rush specialist Brian Young and senior assistant Peter Giunta, plus assistants Adam Gristick and Matt Giordano. Staley needs to bring in help at every level: defensive line, linebackers, safeties and cornerbacks.

We’ve highlighted six coaches who make sense for his staff. Here’s what they have to bring to the table:

With New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore focusing on the offense, the defensive coordinator is a massive hire. Making life as a head coach as easy as possible is essential for a first-time head coach, and not having to worry about the opposite side of the ball can be a great way to do that. Since Moore’s hire, Brandon Staley has been the favorite for the job due to their past connection, similar to Doug Nussmeier on offense. The team also interviewed Philadelphia Eagles defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator Christian Parker and Minnesota Vikings defensive backs...

The New Orleans Saints search for a defensive coordinator is finally coming to an end, as the team is set to hire former Chargers head coach Brandon Staley to man that side of the ball.

Staley, who was the favorite all along in this process will be entering a unique situation here in New Orleans. New Saints head coach Kellen Moore was Staley’s offensive coordinator during his time in Los Angeles working under the former Chargers head coach. Only now those roles will be reversed with Staley now set to work under Moore as his defensive coordinator.

The Saints considered multiple candidates...

NEW ORLEANS — Kellen Moore has added a familiar face as his defensive coordinator.

According to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter, the Saints are hiring former Chargers head coach Brandon Staley as their defensive coordinator.

Moore and Staley worked together with the Chargers in 2023.

Last season, Staley was an assistant for the San Francisco 49ers.

On Thursday, the Saints hired Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier as their new offensive coordinator.

Nussmeier was widely considered the favorite for the role and now joins Moore’s staff with a Super Bowl ring, bringing...

The NFL Combine is right around the corner, and NFL’s Daniel Jeremiah held a Zoom call to preview the NFL Combine and talk about some of the NFL’s top draft prospects. During the call, Jeremiah identified the New Orleans Saints as a potential landing spot for Colorado quarterback, Shedeur Sanders.

“The Saints make sense to me. The Raiders make sense to me. It’s more so about fit than anything else when it comes to those guys,” said Jeremiah.

Now this may cause a bit of a split reaction from Saints fans. There are some people out there who love Shedeur and then there are some out there...

The New Orleans Saints won’t be major players in free agency due to their cap issues, so the draft will be a big focus this offseason. With new schemes coming in and improvements desperately needed to be made, the 2025 NFL Draft is full of talent that can elevate this team and change the outlook of next season.

With the Saints’ first pick in the draft, they can go in many different directions. The roster needs talent and improvements, so going with the best available player is the best decision at 9. For this mock draft, that prospect is wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan out of Arizona...

Ashton Jeanty and Saints would be a perfect pair, per this draft expert

If you ask the Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski, the New Orleans Saints and Ashton Jeanty are candidates for a perfect marriage. Jeanty and the Saints have been connected because of Kellen Moore’s Boise State ties, but Sobleski stayed away from that low-hanging fruit to explain why Jeanty could fit the Saints so well.

Taliese Fuaga and Trevor Penning impacted Sobleski’s decision as well. He sees a world where putting Jeanty behind “two young, run-blocking tone-setters at offensive tackle” could be turn Jeanty into the “focal point” for the Saints offense for the future.

The NFL offseason has begun, and with that, the New Orleans Saints have made official the hiring of their new head coach Kellen Moore. Now things get interesting, as he has to make decisions with the current roster and in free agency on who he wants on his team to build his scheme.

With the time remaining until that free agency period opens in March, we have a chance to look back at the 2024 offseason and see how the Saints’ signings panned out. One of those pickups was offensive lineman Shane Lemieux, here is his 2024 season and how the acquisition worked out for the Saints:

The 2025 offseason has begun, however, free agency is still a little while away as teams wrap up their early processes before working on new signings. One of those early offseason processes was head coach hirings for many teams, including the New Orleans Saints who hired Super Bowl-winning offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as theirs.

Now the waiting period begins until the second week of March when free agency starts up. This gives us an opportunity to look back at the Saints’ 2024 offseason, processing their previous signings and departures to analyze whether or not they were good...
