By announcing a deal with Kellen Moore on Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints made Moore the youngest head coach in the NFL at 36 years old. He’ll turn 37 in July and is also the youngest head coach in Saints franchise history.

Moore would edge Demario Davis by just six months to be the oldest player on the team. His collegiate career overlapped with Derek Carr and Tyrann Mathieu. Davis and Moore were in the same 2012 draft class, and Cameron Jordan turned pro a year sooner in 2011. Moore isn’t far removed from some of the veteran leaders

Kellen Moore’s ascension was expeditious. He started out as the Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback coach in 2018 and became their offensive coordinator in the following seasons. His four-year run as the Cowboys coordinator was one year stints with the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles.

Over that six-year span, Moore worked with Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert and Dak Prescott. All three of these quarterbacks had a good amount of mobility. Hurts was a true dual-threat quarterback, but the ability to run has been a constant for Moore’s quarterbacks.

Of course conversations around his head coaching candidacy were discussed on and off camera.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini saw the natural comparison of Moore and former Saints head coach, Sean Payton, due to being offensive-minded coaches and decided to dig for information. Her conclusion wasn’t surprising.

Offensive coordinator will be intriguing no doubt, as Moore will have to find someone he trusts immensely to work alongside him while he continues to call plays, and there are a few options that could come to fruition. One of those options is Doug Nussmeier, but...

Kellen Moore has his work cut out for him. The next head coach of the New Orleans Saints is taking over a roster with holes, busted draft picks, and aging veterans up and down the depth chart. Where will he move first to get this team back where it needs to be among the NFC’s winningest squads?

The New Orleans Saints have finally filled their head coach vacancy with the hiring of Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. At just 36 years old, Moore has six years of offensive coordinator experience with four years running a top-10 offense.

Moore was the offensive coordinator and play caller for the Dallas Cowboys from 2019-2023 where Dallas averaged 27.7 points per game, the second most in that span. The Cowboys would agree to part ways with their offensive coordinator after the 2023 season. Moore would then spend one season with the Los Angeles Chargers. The...
