These two veterans have a lot to prove to show that they are a fit in the new offensive scheme with the New Orleans Saints.

By Bob Rose - Saints News Network | SI

The New Orleans Saints parted ways with longtime offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael and most of the offensive coaches this offseason. Replacing Carmichael is young but respected Klint Kubiak, along with new position assistants at wide receiver, running back, and the offensive line.

New Orleans also added several new players on the offensive side. Taliese Fuaga, Bub Means, Oli Udoh, Cedrick Wilson, Shane Lemieux, and Lucas Patrick were brought in through the draft or free agency and are expected to be major contributors.

These additions and others were brought in because of their fits in the system that Kubiak is expected to employ. With that said, which returning veterans may not be a fit for Kubiak's offense? Here's a look at two returning offensive players that may face a serious challenge for roster spots when training camp opens in July. ...

NEW ORLEANS — The weeklong publicly-aired dispute between the New Orleans Saints and the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District comes down to one overriding issue – progress towards a long-term lease for the team in the stadium, New Orleans Saints and Pelicans President Dennis Lauscha said in a question and answer the team posted to its web site Friday.

The public awareness of any issue began earlier this week when the LSED, the state board appointed by the governor to manage the Superdome and the Smoothie King Center, said the Saints were behind on their share of payments to the group...

Saints have a history of moving offensive linemen around

The New Orleans Saints offensive line will be very important to the success of the offense under offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. They want to be a run first offense. That requires a level of physicality and skill that must be initiated by the front line. The starting offensive line could consist of Taliese Fuaga, Nick Saldiveri, Erik McCoy, Cesar Ruiz and Trevor Penning.

Trevor Penning’s move to right tackle during OTAs emphasizes the Saints’ tendency to take offensive linemen away from their natural position. Of those five starting linemen, McCoy could be the only one playing in his...

Saints miss out on Taliese Fuaga, Kool-Aid McKinstry in too-soon 2024 re-draft

You know the New Orleans Saints made some great picks when they’re missing out on both of their top two selections in a way-too-soon 2024 re-draft. Draft Wire’s Curt Popejoy turned back the clock and redid the first 32 picks of this year’s draft with the benefit of hindsight. And the Saints missed out.

Both Taliese Fuaga (their first-round choice at No. 14) and Kool-Aid McKinstry (their second rounder, at No. 41) were picked by other teams before the Saints had a chance to get them. The New York Jets selected Fuaga instead of Penn State left tackle Olu Fashanu a couple of slots ahead of...

In this week’s CSC poll, we asked which of the following upsets are the New Orleans Saints most likely to pull:

After 343 votes, a win at the Dallas Cowboys was the most popular answer with 41.4% of the vote. The Saints have lost two of the last three against the Cowboys dating back to 2018, with the Cowboys taking the last matchup in 2021. The Saints will visit the Cowboys in Week 2, who have high expectations this year as they are tied with the Eagles for the best odds to win the NFC East. They will be a tough opponent, especially at home where they were unbeaten in the regular season...

Saints will be marching into Green Bay in late December

Last week, the NFL schedule was released, and unfortunately for the Saints, they’ll be marching into Green Bay for a late December visit.

According to the football database, they’ve played each other three times over the last four years. In that time the Saints have only won once, and last year’s loss is sure to have left a sour taste in the mouths of the team. It was just an overall lackluster and disappointing performance by the team overall. New Orleans will hope to remedy that come week 15 on December 23rd.

Differences from that unfortunate week three matchup are already clear...

CBS analyst claims Spencer Rattler may be Dennis Allen's saving grace

The Spencer Rattler hype train is rolling full steam ahead. CBS Sports analyst Emory Hunt joined the party, suggesting Rattler — not Derek Carr, or even Jake Haener — could be the New Orleans Saints quarterback who can save Dennis Allen’s job. Making a statement of that magnitude about the current third string quarterback who has never played a snap in the NFL speaks volumes.

Hunt clearly has a high opinion of Rattler and believed he was a better prospect than first-round quarterbacks J.J. McCarthy and Bo Nix. Hunt’s stance got even stronger. He said not playing Rattler would cause Allen...

OTAs are officially underway for the New Orleans Saints and with that comes speculation from the fans. A lot of the conversation when it comes to on the field has been circulated around Derek Carr, the quarterback the Saints signed last offseason for $150 million.

In his first season, the four-time Pro Bowler completed nearly 70% of his passes for 3,878 yards, 25 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions while running Pete Carmichael’s system. Even with those numbers, the Saints still went 9-8 and missed the playoffs for the third straight season, second under Dennis Allen.
