Saints get great salary cap news.

By John Hendrix - Athlon Sports

The NFL Salary Cap will be friendly in 2025.

According to a Wednesday report by ESPN's Dan Graziano, the NFL has informed teams of the new salary cap number in the range of $277.5-281.5 million. For the New Orleans Saints, it's great news.

The NFL today informed teams that the 2025 per-team salary cap will fall in the range of $277.5 million to $281.5 million, way up from last year's $255.4 million. Cap will have increased by more than $53 million over the last two years.

Naturally, this is great news for other teams as well, as they will have a lot more money to spend going into free agency. This will put the Saints around $48 million over the cap, but the final figure is not yet finalized.

We previously looked at the top cap hits for New Orleans earlier this month, with 10 of the players accounting for $175 million....

There it is. NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill reports what we’ve expected would be the case — the Saints are hiring Doug Nussmeier to become Kellen Moore’s offensive coordinator in 2025.

Nussmeier, 54, has worked with Moore as a quarterbacks coach every step of the way through his NFL journey. They were together on the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers, and this year’s Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles team.

But Moore will continue to call plays after becoming the Saints’ head coach, so what will Nussmeier be responsible for? Expect him to spend a lot of time supervising the...

Soon after it was announced that Kellen Moore would become head coach of the New Orleans Saints, interim head coach Darren Rizzi quickly pivoted to joining the Sean Payton-led Denver Broncos.

With Rizzi’s role as special teams coordinator in Denver, he now brings in a familiar face to add to his unit. NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill reports that Marwan Maalouf is following Rizzi and joining the Broncos.

Maalouf, the former Minnesota Vikings special teams coordinator, spent a few years out of football prior to joining the Saints at midseason. Once Rizzi became interim head coach, he...

The New Orleans Saints offensive staff is almost complete, and this group has some trends. There is an evident youth movement with this offensive staff, and most of the coaches are connected to Kellen Moore’s previous teams. Something notable is that head coach Kellen Moore, soon to be expected offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier, and quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien are all former NFL quarterbacks. Also, both Moore and Nussmeier were former QB coaches. This coaching staff focuses on QB development, which may be a hint for important decisions in the offseason.

Moving on from Derek Carr...

The New Orleans Saints have been active in meeting with a multitude of prospects leading up to the 2025 NFL draft, and have continued to do so into early February. One of the prospects they most recently met with was Wake Forest offensive tackle, DeVonte Gordon, as reported by Ryan Fowler for The Draft Network. The Saints were among nine other teams to meet with him, however, they were the only NFC South team in the group according to the report.

Gordon has consistently improved over his five-year college career, with his game transitioning from right tackle to the left side by 2023, and...

The NFL offseason is here, and free agency follows closely behind as it is only a month away approximately. With that, we have some time to take a look back at the 2024 offseason for the New Orleans Saints and grade some of their signings and departures based on whether or not they were good decisions.

One of the Saints’ few signings last offseason was defensive back Will Harris, who left the Detroit Lions in search of a new team, and ended up landing with New Orleans. Here is how his 2024 season went, how the contract panned out, and a grade for the signing:

The contract for Will Harris...

The 2025 offseason has begun, and the New Orleans Saints kicked it off by hiring the 19th head coach in their franchise history, Kellen Moore. Now they are somewhat stuck in a waiting game until free agency, as aside from hiring the remaining coaching staff, they do not have a whole lot to do until signings begin.

With this time available, it gives us a chance to look back at the 2024 offseason as well and determine the good and bad from the departures and arrivals that occurred. With only a few signings occurring, and cap space limited, there were some significant players who moved on...

A certain New Orleans Saints cornerback that is headed for free agency is receiving some mixed reviews on where he stands in player rankings at his position.

Some people, like Bill Belichick for example, have Paulson Adebo as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. That isn’t the same for everybody, though. Dan Pizzuta of 33rdTeam recently released is ranking of the top 100 players available and Adebo was ranked fairly low within in position group at No. 10. Here is how the cornerback rankings shaped up:

With Kellen Moore taking over as the New Orleans Saints head coach, it’s only natural to start questioning what players from his previous stop may follow him.

The Wright Way Network has identified three Philadelphia Eagles free agents who Moore should try to bring with him. The list attacks positions of need, but there’s one player that feels like an extreme long shot: Zack Baun.

Everyone on the New Orleans side would gladly welcome Baun back, but why would he want to return? This isn’t about holding on to bad feelings, either. Baun just had the best year of his career with Vic Fangio...
