Miami Dolphins cornerback, Jalen Ramsey, took to social media to celebrate the New Orleans Saints hiring Brandon Staley as their defensive coordinator.

Ramsey and Staley crossed paths with the Los Angeles Rams. The cornerback was traded to the Rams in 2019, and Staley became the defensive coordinator the following year

Though the player and coach only spent one season together, they left a lasting impact on each other. Staley highlighted Ramsey as being “one of the biggest reasons” he got his first head coaching job. Staley also added that Ramsey “means so much to me.”

The New Orleans Saints defensive line room will see the biggest shift after the team hired Brandon Staley to become the unit’s coordinator.

The transition to Staley will feature the Saints playing more three down linemen, or odd fronts, opposed to primarily playing four down linemen, or even fronts, as was the case under Dennis Allen. What does that look like for New Orleans?

Only using players currently under contract, Carl Granderson and Isaiah Foskey would probably be your standup outside linebackers instead of hand-in-the-dirt defensive ends. Bryan Bresee would shift outside to a 4i...

Things are picking up for the New Orleans Saints, who are joining the rest of the NFL in Indianapolis over the weekend for the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. The Saints are hiring former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley as their new defensive coordinator on Kellen Moore’s staff, but for the most part, Staley has a blank slate to work with. The only defensive coaches on the team who have hung around since last season are, so far, pass rush specialist Brian Young and senior assistant Peter Giunta, plus assistants Adam Gristick and Matt Giordano. Staley needs to bring in help at every level: defensive line, linebackers, safeties and cornerbacks.

We’ve highlighted six coaches who make sense for his staff. Here’s what they have to bring to the table:

With New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore focusing on the offense, the defensive coordinator is a massive hire. Making life as a head coach as easy as possible is essential for a first-time head coach, and not having to worry about the opposite side of the ball can be a great way to do that. Since Moore’s hire, Brandon Staley has been the favorite for the job due to their past connection, similar to Doug Nussmeier on offense. The team also interviewed Philadelphia Eagles defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator Christian Parker and Minnesota Vikings defensive backs...

New Saints head coach Kellen Moore was Staley’s offensive coordinator during his time in Los Angeles working under the former Chargers head coach. Only now those roles will be reversed with Staley now set to work under Moore as his defensive coordinator.

Now this may cause a bit of a split reaction from Saints fans. There are some people out there who love Shedeur and then there are some out there...

The New Orleans Saints won’t be major players in free agency due to their cap issues, so the draft will be a big focus this offseason. With new schemes coming in and improvements desperately needed to be made, the 2025 NFL Draft is full of talent that can elevate this team and change the outlook of next season.

With the Saints’ first pick in the draft, they can go in many different directions. The roster needs talent and improvements, so going with the best available player is the best decision at 9. For this mock draft, that prospect is wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan out of Arizona...

If you ask the Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski, the New Orleans Saints and Ashton Jeanty are candidates for a perfect marriage. Jeanty and the Saints have been connected because of Kellen Moore’s Boise State ties, but Sobleski stayed away from that low-hanging fruit to explain why Jeanty could fit the Saints so well.

Taliese Fuaga and Trevor Penning impacted Sobleski’s decision as well. He sees a world where putting Jeanty behind “two young, run-blocking tone-setters at offensive tackle” could be turn Jeanty into the “focal point” for the Saints offense for the future.
